Chinese institute develops 100-megapixel camera

Beijing: A Chinese Institute claims to have successfully developed a 100-megapixel camera, high-resolution images in the fields can produce mapping, disaster monitoring and intelligent transport systems.

The camera IOE3 Kanban was developed by the Institute of Optics and Electronics, Chinese Academy of Sciences have the highest pixel camera of China, the court said in a statement.

The camera is capable of images with 10,240 x 10,240 pixels, the statement said.

On the other hand, is small and light, with the widest point measures only 19.3 cm, Xinhua quoted the condition statement, adding that it can be used in temperatures of minus 20 degrees Celsius to 55 degrees Celsius.

Its features high dynamic range (HDR) High sensitivity and mean, it is useful in the formation of high-resolution images in the fields of cartography, urban planning, disaster management and intelligent transport systems, according to the statement.

Intelligent Transport System aims to provide innovative services in connection with the various modes of transport and traffic management to be of different users better informed and safe, coordinated, and with "smart" networks.

The camera with advanced optical systems, controls and camera systems for recording high-capacity data is provided, and has proven itself to use in a recent study as part of a national aerial remote sensing system, he said.

The Institute has also developed a 81-megapixel camera in the Tenth Five-Year Plan (2001-2005) and the ultimate performance researchers took two years to develop.

MP is a one million pixels, and is a term is used not only for the number of pixels in an image, but also to express the number of digital image sensing elements from digital cameras or the number of screen display elements
